Krisha Foundation in collaboration with the NSS unit of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Churchgate, Mumbai conducted a Mental Health Seminar at H.R. College of Commerce & Economics for the Students on Friday, 09th of August, 2019. A report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) revealed that around 7.5 per cent of the Indian population suffers from some form of mental disorder. Mental illnesses constitute one-sixth of all health-related disorders and India accounted for nearly 15% of the global mental, neurological and substance abuse disorder burden. It became extremely important for Krisha Foundation to create awareness among the youth on Mental Health issues, arising due to stress and its effect on emotions ability to perform under stress, current scenarios of Mental issues, Depression, Anxiety and how to improve Mental Health. Ms. Priyanka Dalvi and Ms. Aishaanyaa Tewari were the resource persons for the event who shared their knowledge on this issue with the students and the volunteers. The Objective was to make the youth aware of mental health issues and to help them understand various practices to manage and improve mental health. The Vice Principal of H .R. College, Dr. Rajeshwari Ravi shared her Personal Experience as well as her Thoughts on the issues related to Mental Stress in her day-to-day well-being. In the Second Half of the seminar, along with the Question & Answer Round , a personality development activity and a ‘Trust fall’ activity was conducted to keep the students involved and give them a clearer image as to how situations affect one’s mentality.

The event was very well received by all the participants. Krisha Foundation was successful in creating a positive outlook towards Mental Health and People Affected with Mental Stress. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the participants, volunteers and the speakers.
